KEXPLORATOR: A 2D MAP EXPLORATION USER INTERFACE FOR RECOMMENDER SYSTEMS

Abstract

Recommender systems have reached some maturity and are getting more widely used with the rise of online social networks. However, research until now was mostly focused on improving the recommendation engines, without really advancing the way the recommendations were brought to users. This paper concentrates on improving the delivery of recommendations to users via a new algorithm to allow for generation and 2D visualisation of similarity networks with an emphasis on map stability. An implementation with a connection to the Amazon recommendation engine has been developed.
