Abstract

Managing the evolution of the Enterprise Architecture (EA) is a key challenge for modern enterprises. The EA metrics are instrumental in quantitatively measuring the progress of an enterprise towards its goals. Retrospective analysis of EA metrics empower business users to take informed decisions while planning and selecting efficient alternatives to achieve envisioned EA goals. Even though the current EA management tools support the definition and calculation of EA metrics, they do not capture the temporal aspects of EA metrics in their meta-model to enable retrospective analysis. In this paper, we first propose a model-based approach to capture the temporal aspects of EA metrics and then extend a domain specific language to compute EA metrics at any point of time in the past. This allows visualizing the evolution of EA metrics and as a consequence the evolution of the EA.
